Tax Relief: Plan Your Next Disaster!!!

Who exactly PLANS for disaster? It may sound a bit too much, but natural and other disasters plague us daily… morbid, maybe but also REALITY! It’s time to resolve ourselves to the fact: planning for disasters is just plain common sense! The I.R.S. thoroughly covers that territory by providing information to ‘Plan Your Next Disaster.’ Truth or Fiction…you decide! Gather Up Records and Documents List all important documents for your family and business. Gather them up and make copies. Place the copies (perhaps on CD) in MORE THAN ONE safe, reliable place. Avoid the home and business because disaster MIGHT hit there. Don’t forget birth certificates and other family heirlooms such as the family Bible and important pictures.

Make a Plan

Make a family plan. Know where shelters are, have communication plans, (walkie talkies, cell phones etc…) and WRITE IT ALL DOWN as you develop your plan. Give copies to all family members, as well as storing a copy in all your safe places. Gather up an emergency supply kit, if possible MORE than one. Store emergency supplies in alternate places too. Include a family meeting place that everyone will go to if the family becomes divided. Have disaster planning meetings once a week or twice a month and ask each family member to bring an idea to the meeting. Add the good ideas to your plan. Practicing the plan each meeting time will help make the thoughts clearer IF OR WHEN a disaster strikes. It is the talk of almost everyone today and its what we must face as a society if we are to survive. No one WANTS to plan for a disaster, but peace of mind is worth a million dollars!
